A unique, special combination of ingredients makes all the difference in this chutney. To it, we add raisins, ginger, mustard seed and red peppers. It simmers with onions, garlic, salt and vinegar. The taste tells all, and the bouquet is uniquely appealing. It is a wonderful compliment to poultry, great with all meats and curry dishes (see our recipes section), or fantastic as an hors d’oeuvre. Try cream cheese or ham on a cracker topped with a dab of Appleton Farm Plum Chutney.
Appleton Farm was started in the 1950’s in the kitchen of Mildred Skinner. She lived on the land that was known as Appleton Farm, just outside the town of Middleburg, Virginia. Mildred delighted neighbors and friends with homemade holiday cakes and puddings, savory sauces and jams – gourmet treats with the taste and touch of home from Appleton Farm.
Today, it is Mildred’s relatives who are keeping Appleton Farm running, still selling the specialty foods she made and sold over 50 years ago. Appleton Farm products can be relied upon to be all natural, without additives or preservatives. We use only the freshest ingredients to ensure delicious products. Mildred’s belief when she started, and our belief today, is that the products we offer must be good enough to sell themselves. We are confident that you will find them truly delicious – special and as unique as Middleburg itself. One taste is all it takes!
